MEDIA INFLUENCE AND MARITAL ARGUMENTS

We have different experiences in life. We want to remember some and totally forget others. But in both we LEARN.

Media has painted a picture of how relationships would be, and no matter how you say otherwise, it would always have an influence on our relationships.

If we would recall the stories our grandparents would tell us, when the world did not have any television, and media was limited to newspapers and the most popular media then, the Radio, they would say that life was simpler back in the old days.

Relationships, no matter how flawed people's mental models were back then, were strong, loving and resilient.

Then came the Television, and it totally changed everything. For better or worse, became for better or convenient; for richer or poorer; became for richer or dependent and the thing that most couples look for is till death(or annulment) do us part.

Most marital arguments stem from media influence. Here are a couple of examples;

A couple arguing about finances started their argument after watching a TV drama where the couple was cheating each other thin.

That's just an example of how media could affect a relationship. But strong relationships could overcome such influences.

Point is media influence is strong, but it takes a stronger relationship..something personal and binding to overcome it.

Till next post
