Sweet Temptation

Food has always been a part of my family for generations. No family gathering is complete without food being served. Sundays are usually spent eating out or at home with pot luck lunch and dinner. My grandmother has a tradition in the family where during Sunday morning right after church we would gather around the kitchen helping our dear grandma as she prepares lunch for everyone.

It was like clockwork that everyone, my mom and dad, aunts and uncles, my brothers, sisters and cousins pitch in to complete a thanksgiving like feast. After lunch she would call on me and my cousins and reward us with sweet treats she made. I miss her and the value she left us. "Always cook with your heart, serve them with love." She kept a small notebook with her recipes and top secret ingredients, when she passed on that notebook got lost somehow. It was as if the magic spell book just faded away.

Portraits of Life

Sometimes, just like this photo I took at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Rescue Center we often feel caged because we focus too much on the petty things around us, but we would often forget to focus on what we really need. Our eyes and minds can be set to the conditions we would want in our lives. Much like the lens I focused on the subject which fades away the steel cage surrounding it, we can free our minds.

Through the Sniper's Eyes: First Salvo

Ever since I was a kid I loved animals. I grew up with them and around them. They have also been my favorite subjects to shoot. It makes me reflect on how they are able to sustain themselves on thier own sometimes. You would often ask who provides for and protects them. I've always known who. I sometimes forget to acknowledge the fact that He does provide from the lowliest creatures, to someone not so worthy as me.

I always love picture collages, specially if they are pictures I loved shooting. It gives me a sense of nostalgia, recalling those moments of light catptured in a split second. It's my capture of that precious moment with the one's I love, or those that touched my heart.

Here are two of my most favorite shots so far. It really shows how glorious God really is. How magnificent his creations are and how He provides for us, down to the smallest details. I love nature shots, this shows my appreciation and love for God's creatures and creations. My goal is to capture that beauty and show it to the whole world.

Chow the Lion!

We went to La Mesa Eco-park over the weekend and I saw this beautiful Chow-chow. The kids at the park mistakenly called it a lion. It made me smile. But this dog had character. He or she (I didn't bother to ask) was dragging his or her owner all around the park.

What's funny though was that the owner didn't have a traveling cage with him. He just tied the dog's leash to the back of his F150. I hope he lives nearby because right after they left, it started to rain heavily.

Here's a sample of the wildlife you see at El Pueblo - my daughter calls these stray cats as El Pueblo Cats. I have a fondness for animals specially cats and dogs. Too bad my place does not allow pets. We just have to make do with the strays.
